Fastpitch Hitting Instructional Program

The Westfield Boys and Girls Club has decided not to run this program for the 2013 - 2014 season.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

General Hitting Program Information:

In the fall / winter of 2013 - 2014, NWS Elite and the Westfield Boys & Girls Club
will run our Girls Fastpitch Instructional Hitting Program.


The program is planning to run in (3) separate Six week "Sessions" for
approximately 18 classes.
(There may be one 5 week session, depending on scheduling).

Each session includes one hitting practice per week, at one hour per practice, and include drills and cage hitting. 


Classes will be offered on Sunday Evenings at 5:00, 6:00, 7:00 and 8:00 pm each week, for one hour each.

This will be the programs 4th year, and has been very successful, with many of our students having great years at the plate!

The Scheduled times for Session 1 of the Program is as follows:
  • Sunday 5:00 PM (Open)
  • Sunday 6:00 PM (Open)
  • Sunday 7:00 PM (Open)
  • Sunday 8:00 PM (Open - but will be filled only if needed)

  • The Tentative Dates for the program for 2013 - 2014 are:

    (NOTE - Dates are all tentative until the final Gym availability is determined. - Check back for updates)

    2013 - 2014 Session Dates were:

    Session One

    Starts Sunday November 10th.

    Ends - Sunday December 15th.

    Session Two (5 Week Session)
    Starts - Sunday January 5th.  

    Ends -  Sunday February 2nd.
    (Note: There are no classes on Sunday December 22nd for Christmas / New Years Break.

    Session Three
    Starts -
    Sunday February 9th.  

    Ends -  Sunday March 9th.

    Note: if we have to cancel classes for snow days, we will try to make them up the same week, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. If classes cannot be made up, due to scheduling conflicts, the session end dates will be adjusted, and if necessary session Four / Five will be shortened, and costs will be adjusted appropriately.

You will receive a confirmation email shortly after you register.

Space is limited in this program, so we strongly encourage you to register early. Once you have registered, you will
receive an E mail confirmation that you are "on the list".

The WBGC will handle all the scheduling for the program. They will work out your time slot via E Mail.


To start this process, please indicate what night and time slot you wish to fill.

  • Sunday evenings at 5:00, 6:00, 7:00 pm or 8:00 pm. (Note 8:00 pm will only be filled if needed)

Please note that all students that participated in the program previously get first picks for times and days, before new students.


Also note that we try to place the younger students and students with less experience in earlier classes where possible (to match age and skill levels). We will do our best to accommodate your requested times and day. However, we cannot promise you any particular time. Again, we will do our best!

Your time slot will be one hour, and fall on the same time and day each week.

Sarah just concluded her junior year at Division II American International College (AIC) in Springfield, MA. She was named first-team All-Conference in 2011 after batting .340 with three homers and 21 RBI’s. Calgreen also led the team with 51 hits, while contributing 11 doubles and scoring 23 runs. Sarah was also a Northeast-10 All-Conference pick as a sophomore, when she batted a team-high .331. Calgreen also led the team in batting as a freshman with a .317 mark, and was named to the conference All-Rookie Team.

The program is run at the Westfield Boys and Girls Club, 28 West Silver Street, Westfield, MA. 01085.

Further Program info:

  1. The program is financially administered by the Westfield Boys & Girls Club. For the 2013 - 2014 program, the WBGC set the fee at $135.00 / Session (includes all six weeks), plus the one time membership fee defined in item #2. If you have any questions in this area, including available discounts, please send an E Mail to the WBGC Program Director, Ms. Kellie Brown at kbrownwbgc@comcast.net , or call the WBGC directly at (413) 562-2301.
  2. In addition to the program fee, each participant must purchase a Boys & Girls club membership for a one time fee of $45.00. The membership allows participation in all the WBGC club programs (Click here for more information on Club Programs) and covers the students insurance costs. (A membership covers a full school year).
  3. This year the WBGC is requiring all program fees to be paid in advance of the first class, for each session, to participate. Payments can be made by mail (Mail check), or by phone using any major debit or credit card.
  4. You may stop by the WBGC to get your membership and register in place before the first class.
  5. The program scheduling is administered by, the WBGC. Scheduling is done by E Mailing Program Director Kellie Brown at kbrownwbgc@comcast.net . Also any scheduling issues can be directed to the WBGC at the same E mail address.
  6. Once your day and time are set, the WBGC will send an E Mail to each participant to confirm days / times.
  7. Each hitter must bring their own bat (We recommend a "batting practice bat"), and hitting gloves, and all hitters must wear a helmet with a face mask (The program will provide helmets if you do not have your own).
  8. The WBGC will provide the practice balls, for both the "drills" and cage hitting. "Machine balls" will be used when hitting in the "cage".
  9. Clearly mark all of your own equipment (including your personal bat, gloves, etc.) with your name.
  10. Hitters must wear indoor sneakers with "non-marking" soles.
  11. If you cannot make your class for some reason (school activities, family obligations, etc), we will try our very best to offer you a make up class on a space available basis. However, please regard this as a courtesy, and not classes that are owed to you because you could not attend.
